Glasgow Warriors and Ulster drew 33-33 in the United Rugby Championship at Scotstoun, with Juarno Augustus scoring a late try to secure a dramatic draw.

Glasgow Warriors and Ulster played out a remarkable 33-33 draw in the United Rugby Championship at Scotstoun on Friday. Both sides were reduced to 13 men at different points in the game, with the lead changing hands several times before Ulster secured a share of the spoils through a late Juarno Augustus try converted by Nathan Doak.

Early Exchanges in the United Rugby Championship Clash

Ulster made a late change before kick-off, withdrawing Jacob Stockdale with an injury. Ethan McIlroy shifted from centre to fullback, and Ben Carson came into midfield. Despite the disruption, the visitors started with real venom and took the lead on three minutes when Bryn Ward tapped a penalty and smashed over. Jack Murphy converted for a 7-0 lead.

Glasgow responded on nine minutes through a fortunate penalty. From a lineout, Sione Tuipulotu and Dan Lancaster combined to put Josh McKay through a gap, and he ran in under the posts. George Horne converted to level at 7-7.

The Warriors were reduced to 14 men on 18 minutes when Lancaster was yellow-carded for a deliberate knock-on. Ulster capitalised from the resulting lineout, with David McCann breaking from the maul and Murphy's long pass sending McIlroy over. Murphy missed the conversion, leaving the score at 7-12.

Ulster Build Lead Before Half-Time

Ulster then handed momentum back to Glasgow. Stafford McDowall threw a long pass to Kyle Rowe, who ran in unopposed, and Horne kicked a superb conversion from the touchline to give Glasgow a 14-12 lead.

However, with the clock in red, Horne was penalised for throwing the ball at Tom Stewart, reversing a penalty. Ulster kicked to the corner, mauled, and recycled before McIlroy's reverse pass found Murphy, who crashed over and converted his own try to give Ulster a 19-14 half-time lead.

Ulster extended their advantage early in the second half. McIlroy fed Mullins, who stormed to the line, and Murphy converted for a 26-14 lead. But two quick yellow cards undid their good work. Ben Carson was binned on 49 minutes and McIlroy followed on 52 minutes, reducing Ulster to 13 men.

Glasgow Fight Back But Ulster Snatch Draw

Glasgow took full advantage. Jamie Dobie crossed and Horne converted to cut the deficit to four. Sam Talakai then scored, with Horne converting, to put Glasgow ahead 28-26 just as Carson returned.

Kyle Rowe got his second try on 64 minutes, but Horne missed the extras, leaving Glasgow 33-26 ahead. The Warriors could not seal it though, as Rory Darge and Talakai were shown yellow cards, leaving them with 13 men.

Ulster pressed and were rewarded when Juarno Augustus scored, with Nathan Doak converting to tie the game at 33-33. Both sides had chances to win it in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive score.

The result leaves Ulster frustrated not to have sealed the win, while Glasgow will rue their indiscipline. The draw sees both sides take three points from the encounter. The referee for the match was C Allison (SARU).
