Edward Norton and Janelle Monáe reveal the story behind a deleted musical scene that almost made it to the screen in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The sequel to the Rian Johnson Academy Award-nominated whodunit Knives Out is now streaming on Netflix. Johnson returns as the writer and director, alongside leading man Daniel Craig, reprising his role as Detective Benoit Blanc. Norton and Monáe join a talented cast that also includes Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery stars Norton and Monáe talked about pitching Johnson a musical scene with their characters in a flashback for the movie. According to the duo, the idea for the scene came from their mutual love of David Bowie, with their song choice being "Moonage Daydream".
Norton and Monáe planned to establish their character's connection through the duo singing Bowie's "Moonage Daydream" in an open mic night at the Glass Onion bar. This choice was likely the best for a possible musical moment in the movie, as it wouldn't require any major story changes and would've naturally worked out as an add-on to the character's early interactions.
What To Expect From Netflix’s Knives Out 3 When Netflix acquired the rights to produce two sequels to Knives Out for $465 million, the streamer sealed a deal for the sequels to be written and directed by Johnson, with Craig returning as Detective Benoit Blanc. While it's too early to have any reported cast members for Knives Out 3, the movie will certainly be taking a page from its predecessors and assembling a talented ensemble of suspects for Blanc's next mystery.
