Bobby Burns was treated pitchside for approximately 20 minutes as Glentoran's match with Crusaders continued on Saturday
Glentoran have confirmed they are pursuing a "full and transparent investigation" into the events that followed Bobby Burns' serious injury at Seaview last Saturday.
The 24-year-old midfielder received medical attention for approximately 20 minutes at the side of the pitch as the match continued.Burns - who was lying motionless after clattering into the perimeter hoardings - was eventually stretchered to an ambulance and taken to hospital where he underwent surgery on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Thursday night, Glentoran chairman Colin Jess questioned how the match was allowed to continue as a player with a serious injury was treated by the side of the pitch. "It is essential that protocols are put in place to ensure this doesn't happen again and that no other player from any club should be treated in such a neglectful way.
