GMP respond to allegations they are withholding CCTV footage amid unjustified strip search claims
Greater Manchester Police has responded to allegations that it is 'withholding' CCTV footage. It comes after three women accused the force of unjustified strip searches while in custody.DCC Woods added that the force was 'aware of and understand the concerns regarding the allegations that the force is withholding footage'.
"Upon review, it was identified that two hours were missing but, by that date, the parent footage on the servers had been overwritten . The other two cases, he added, were only brought to his attention recently. He said he has spoken to the leadership team at Greater Manchester Police and 'had an assurance that there will be an investigation'.In a previous statement, DCC Woods said the force 'understands and shares the concerns of the public' regarding the allegations made. He said allegations made by one woman were the subject of an ongoing investigation.
