It starts at the top with owner Bill Foley. The ambitious billionaire was the first to bring major professional sports to the city of Las Vegas, now seen as a blossoming sports mecca. When theawarded him an expansion franchise he confidently predicted the team would make the playoffs in three years, and win the Stanley Cup in six.
It’s similar to the overall mentality of the organization, which has turned over every stone in a search to improve. It would’ve been easy to rest on its laurels after the shocking success in 2017-18, and continue building slowly with the stockpiles of capital the club acquired in the expansion draft.
