commissioner Roger Goodell said he felt the league has made progress in its diversity hiring process but has more work to do during his annual “State of the NFL” address Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know:
He noted the NFL’s adjusted concussion protocol when referencing the rise in concussions the NFL saw this season but said there’s more work to be done to make the game safer. “We had a number of other programs that we put in that I think are going to produce strong results long-term. Now we all want short-term results, but it’s important to have it be sustainable for the future,” Goodell said about increasing diversity in hiring. “We believe diversity makes us stronger and it’s about attracting the best talent and giving them the opportunity to be successful.
