Images captured by Google Earth satellites have revealed the true devastation to Mariupol due to the Russia- Ukraine conflict.
New images of the city show swathes of buildings reduced to rubble and green spaces completely obliterated.
Mariupol, one of the first places to be surrendered to Vladimir Putin’s troops last May, is still under occupation. It has made headlines around the world after seeing some of the most brutal fighting of the conflict over the last year.while more than 1,300 Ukrainian civilians cowered inside. It was bombed on March 16 last year, despite being daubed with huge signs warning children were inside.
The central part of the three-storey venue collapsed with rubble blocking the entrance, initially obstructing rescuers from entering.
