Irish temporary contractors only now being offered recompense after being underpaid for work at internet giant

Some former Google contractors in Ireland have still not been paid back by the company, four years after it became aware it had been paying thousands of its temporary workers less than the legal minimum.

The Business Post has learned that former contractors at the tech company’s Irish office are now being offered retroactive payments through their agencies after being underpaid during their time working at Google. Google, as previously reported by the Guardian and New York Times, became aware in 2019 that it was not complying with laws in Britain, Europe and Asia that mandate temporary workers be paid equal rates to full-time employees performing similar work.
