Abbott's tweet is the latest signaling upcoming legislative fight over LGBTQ issues.
A spokeswoman for the governor did not immediately respond to a request for comment seeking clarity on what types of laws Abbott was referencing.
Asked about the Fox News article, Fort Worth ISD spokeswoman Barbara Griffith said the district “addressed the incident when it took place in August, 2022.” She declined to elaborate. “Greg Abbott has underfunded our schools and made them less safe,” Capo said in a statement. “And he makes them even more dangerous for teachers and their LGBTQIA+ students when he uses his platform to spread this hurtful nonsense.”
During the GOP primary this year, Abbott ordered Child Protective Services to investigate reports of transgender kids receiving gender-affirming care. Although the investigations were put on hold for most families, at least 11 cases were opened and families of transgender children are fighting the directive in court.with a particular focus on transgender Texans.
