Two weeks into his administration, Shapiro announces his picks to head these two Cabinet posts.
on Wednesday by appointing Lucas Miller as his inspector general and nominating Reggie McNeil as his General Services secretary.Miller has served as inspector general under former Gov. Tom Wolf and has been with that office for more than 23 years, heading up several of its bureaus and interacting with all aspects of the office.
McNeil most recently served as chief operating officer of the School District of Philadelphia in career that began with 22 years in the Navy where he gained executive level experience in facilities management before transitioning to positions in public education.Shapiro says he is building a diverse administration with leaders who have experience in government and public service and he sees both of these men as filling that bill.
The Department of General Services is a multi-faceted agency that oversees and manages state facilities, handles purchasing, and oversees the Capitol Police, among other responsibilities. In being nominated to head that agency, McNeil said, “As an advocate for reform and transparency in government, I am excited to work alongside Governor Shapiro to solve problems and make sure government operates efficiently and effectively for the people of Pennsylvania.
