The government announced a range of cost of living bonuses in the form of lump sums, which are set to be paid out next month - but a number of groups are ineligible

The first round of a number of lump sums will be paid out from the 4th of November, as announced in Budget 2025's cost of living package.

However, Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys clarified that six groups of people would not be in line for the boost. Anyone on the Occupational Injuries Benefit Scheme, which encompasses Injury Benefit, Disablement Benefit, Incapacity Supplement, Constant Attendance Allowance and Medical Care Scheme, will not be eligible for the €400 boost.

Speaking in the Dail last week, the Minister said: " Payments under the occupational injuries benefit scheme, including disablement benefit, do not qualify for this once-off €400 disability lump sum payment. Under the occupational injuries benefit scheme, there are no limits to the amount that recipients can earn from work, or they may already be in receipt of a supplement on an ongoing basis in the form of incapacity supplement.
