A massive operation got underway on Wednesday morning to dismantle the encampment on Mount Street, moving those living these to safe accommodation in County Dublin
People living in tents along Mount Street have been removed from the area and brought to tented accommodations in Crooksling and Citywest in Dublin .
Over recent months the sprawling encampment outside of the International Protection Office has grown as the state struggled to find adequate accommodation for those entering Ireland as asylum seekers. When the Irish Mirror visited the area on Tuesday, more than 120 tents were pitched outside of the offices, with dozens more across the road, some with up to four people living inside.
"The purpose of the operation is to ensure the safe movement of people seeking international protection from the tents on Mount Street to International Protection Accommodation Service -designated accommodation. Those seeking international protection have now been safely moved to Citywest and to Crooksling tented accommodation in County Dublin.
