Susan Hetherington, 58, from Birmingham, went for a routine eye test after struggling to see symbols on road signs while driving to work
A grandmother whose regular eye examination led to a serious diagnosis has shared her story. Susan Hetherington, 58, began having unusual "wave-like" sensations in her head and trouble reading road signs.
Now, she faces yearly MRI scans as part of her aftercare, as well as struggles with memory problems and persistent fatigue. "I can forget what I'm saying mid sentence and my eyesight has been affected so I have to wear glasses now. Susan recounted her fear: "They told me I had a chance of having a stroke, ending up with epilepsy or even dying. I was terrified."
Susan expressed her ongoing concern: "I have to be monitored now because there is still some left. The waiting for tests is stressful. You don't know if it's okay," she said, highlighting the emotional toll on herself and her family.
