Gusts of up to 85mph and heavy rain is predicted in some parts of the country as the storm takes hold
A major incident has already been declared on the south coast by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum, where an amber weather alert has been issued, with the local fire service warning that there was a “potential risk to life” as well as risk of damage to buildings, falling trees, and flooding. The Met Office warned that winds are expected to reach 70mph to 80mph, with the potential for 85mph and large waves.

People have been warned to avoid outside activity amid predictions gusts could reach almost 100mph. It will be deceivingly dry first thing this morning, with cloudy skies forecast from 8am. However heavy rain is predicted to fall from lunchtime, all the way until later this evening.
