Thunberg is due to appear before the court in Malmo later this morning.
SWEDISH CLIMATE PROTESTER Greta Thunberg is set to go on trial on Monday charged with disobeying police at a rally last month, in which activists blocked the port in the city of Malmo.
She faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison, but prosecutor Charlotte Ottosen told AFP that usually these types of charges result in fines. Thunberg shot to global fame after starting her “School Strike for the Climate” in front of Sweden’s parliament in Stockholm at the age of 15.She and a small band of youths founded the Fridays for Future movement, which quickly became a global phenomenon. In May 2019, thousands of students in Ireland protested on the streets of Dublin.
