116 years young!

have announced that Kane Tanaka from Fukuoka, Japan, has been officially confirmed as the oldest person living at 116 years 66 days old as of 9 March 2019.

At the ceremony with Guinness World Records, who presented Tanaka with the titles for Oldest Living Person as well as Oldest Living Woman, she was gifted with a box of chocolates, which she reportedly ate immediately.At the moment, Tanaka is still six years shy of the record for oldest person ever, which has been held by Jeanne Louise Calment from France, who has held the title for the past 22 years, when she passed in 1997, aged 122 years 164 days.
