Guy's Thatched Hamlet restaurant facing investigation after 1* hygiene rating
An investigation is under way after a much loved family venue received a lowly one star hygiene rating.
Guy's Eating Establishment, based at Guy's Thatched Hamlet in Bilsborrow, was hit with the rating as inspectors found major improvements were needed. The eatery was inspected in February and multiple areas of concern were found. Two of the three categories assessed - hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of building - were rated as 'improvement necessary', while management of food safety was classed as 'major improvement necessary'. LancsLive attempted to obtain the full inspection report under the Freedom of Information Act but this request has been refused.
They continued to explain that information in the report "would form part of any prosecution file and premature disclosure of the information could compromise any such proceedings and prejudice the right to a fair hearing". Guy's Thatched Hamlet has been welcoming families for more than 40 years and website boasts that its restaurant became a favourite "due to its authentic Italian food, fantastic atmosphere and high standards of service".
A spokesperson for Wyre Council said: "Wyre Council’s Environmental Health team is working closely with the business at this time."
