Harrisburg public works crews began cleaning Tuesday under the Mulberry Street bridge, working around a handful of homeless residents who have remained at the camp.

January 24, 2023.Public works crews from the City of Harrisburg began cleaning beneath the Mulberry Street bridge Tuesday morning, despite a handful of holdouts remaining in the encampment of homeless residents.

City crews used front-end loaders, refuse cranes, and other equipment to clear out tents and heaps of abandoned supplies left behind by dozens of homeless individuals who had been living there. The city announced two weeks ago the area would need to be cleared to deal with what the city has described as a serious rat problem.
