Harry and Meghan's staff keep quitting over 'same impossible issue'

It's emerged that Prince Harry's new chief of staff has left his role just three months into the job - and according to one royal expert, there is a reason why he is now among a string of employees who the Sussexes have now lost

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have gained a reputation for being unable to retain staff after quitting their royal roles. And now they have seen their latest departure, Josh Kettler, leave his position as Harry's chief of staff after just three months into the job.

He took up the senior post working with Harry in May ahead of the Sussexes' tour to Nigeria. It is understood Mr Kettler was hired on a trial basis and the decision to part ways was mutual, with both sides agreeing it was not the correct fit. He told the Mirror : "In the years since Meghan and Harry married in 2018, they are estimated to have lost a staggering amount of key members of staff. One former employee told me the problem is that Meghan and Harry always assume that it is as easy to do something as it is to tell someone to do it. The couple hates being told something is just not possible. "Kettler had been seen as having the golden touch. Harry believed his new chief of staff could reverse his declining popularity in the States and transform him into an internationally important figure. Anything less than that would not be acceptable." Tom believes that Mr Kettler's departure has been a "serious blow" and not just "because the couple is now rudderless once again". He added: "What makes Kettler’s departure really embarrassing for the royal couple is that word is beginning to get around and one or two people who have been approached by them have turned down the chance to work for them. "The real issue is that Kettler’s departure reminds everyone that working for Meghan and Harry is a seemingly impossible task. They are just too demanding and always expect too much. Which is why Meghan has failed to appoint a chief executive for her internet cookery and lifestyle brand." The upheaval comes as Harry and Meghan are set to tour the South American nation of Colombia at the invitation of the country’s vice-president Francia Marquez. Ms Marquez, a lawyer and human rights and environmental activist, said the pair would join her in visiting the capital Bogota, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali. Details of the couple's itinerary have not yet been released, but the vice-president said they would engage in several activities related to safeguarding young people online and in physical spaces. Meghan and Harry have long been vocal about highlighting the threat posed to children by the internet. They launched a new initiative The Parent Network earlier this month to provide parents with a safe and free-to-access support network to help those whose children have been harmed by social media. The Mirror has contacted the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes' representatives for comment.
