Eddie Redmayne addresses Newt Scamander's HarryPotter franchise future and whether FantasticBeasts 4 will happen: “I mean, at the moment, there’s nothing that I’m aware of. So, as I’m aware, it’s not something that’s on the cards.”
Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne comments on the prospect of a fourth film in the Harry Potter spinoff franchise as the Wizarding World's future remains uncertain. After the success of the Harry Potter films, which ran from 2001 to 2011, Warner Bros. attempted to capitalize on the franchise's success by expanding the world with new characters and stories. Once again based on source material from author J.K.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In a recent interview with NME, Redmayne addresses whether Fantastic Beasts 4 will happen, offering a disappointing update. The actor confirms that, as far as he's aware, no such film is in moving forward. Redmayne's comment is in line with a report from Variety last November that claimed no more movies in the franchise were currently in development.
“I mean, at the moment, there’s nothing that I’m aware of. So, as I’m aware, it’s not something that’s on the cards.”What Could Be Next For The Harry Potter Franchise All 8 Harry Potter movies performed well at the box office and were generally well-received, but the Fantastic Beasts franchise has struggled to totally find its footing.
In November, HBO Max executive Sarah Aubrey seemingly confirmed as much, stating that they're "thinking of what to do next" in terms of Harry Potter's future. Whether this means a new film or a live-action series, however, remains to be seen. There has also been talk of potentially adapting Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Rowling's highly successful stage play, into a feature film, with reports several months ago stating that this was an option Zaslav was considering.
Now more than a decade removed from the last movie in the main Harry Potter franchise, it's also possible that a future project could see the return of stars like Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, as Harry, Ron, and Hermione, respectively.
