Harvey Weinstein victim bravely explains why she kept in touch with rapist after attack
Former production assistant Miriam Haley has explained the reason why she kept in touch with Harvey Weinstein after he sexually assaulted him.
Asked by GMB host Susanna Reid about why he had kept in touch with him, she said: "I think everyone processes things differently... in my particular case I felt extremely embarrassed and hurt because I was introduced to him by someone I trusted." Up until 2017, when she spoke out about the abuse, Haley said that she had suppressed what had happened, adding: "Quite unsuccessfully, to be honest. When [the rape claims about Weinstein] first resurfaced and the memories began came coming back."
The 46-year-old actress appeared on GMB via video link in New York, McGowan described his conviction as a "huge moment" and admitted that she thought he would be exonerated. McGowan confirmed that she would be able to speak in court when he goes to trial in LA over charges on two alleged attacks over two days.
"And more importantly I fought for a global and cultural reset because this still happens. While we're still speaking, people are being raped all over the world and they will never have a voice in this so I wanted to come and be a voice for those who will never have a chance to stand and say to the world."
