Has Mike McCarthy coached his way off of the Sean Payton hot seat? DallasCowboys
are being utilized appropriately and effectively. Cooper’s departure left Dallas’ passing offense in a tough spot and McCarthy is wisely coaching to the strengths of his team. They’ve been awfully efficient.
Defensively, McCarthy hired an excellent defensive coordinator in Dan Quinn and stayed out of his way. Dallas’ defense is allowing a stingy 309.6 yards per game . Attempting to throw the football against Dallas’ secondary is a waste of time. and his counterparts are allowing 179.8 passing yards per contest, which trails the Eagles’ secondary by just one yard for the league’s best mark.
The Cowboys are littered with difference-makers on the defensive side of the ball. Sophomore superstarranks third in the league with 12.0 sacks and is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. It’s all been a continuation of what Dallas’ defense put forth on tape last season. McCarthy even managed to retain Quinn as his defensive coordinator despite Quinn receiving a plethora of head coaching interest last offseason. It’s another notch on McCarthy’s belt.won’t go away.
But McCarthy doesn’t deserve to be at the forefront of such discussion despite Payton’s reputation. McCarthy has the Cowboys trending in the right direction. They’re carrying the appearance of a legitimate postseason contender in an NFC conference that’s clearly top-heavy.discount the possibility. Discussions surrounding McCarthy’s potential dismissal will warm up if the Cowboys experience a second consecutive early postseason exit.
