Payne He’Bert’s return helps UTSA’s continued development at offensive line
During a one-on-one drill on the first day of full-pads workouts in UTSA’s fall camp, offensive lineman Payne He’Bert went down with a torn bicep.
After watching as UTSA lost as many as five potential starters at offensive tackle due to injuries through the year, He’Bert started to ease back into practice about a month ago, he said. Each program will play eight conference games annually in the 14-team league, which will eschew a divisional setup and place the top two teams in the conference title game.
UTSA coach Jeff Traylor said holding up on the interior requires heavier and stronger players, adding that the 6-foot-4, 305-pound He’Bert “scrapped and competed.”
