There are fears over respiratory illness, measles, mumps, Covid, whooping cough, the flu, and monkeypox

Health experts have issued a stark warning for a surge of several viral infections this coming winter.

There are other viruses around. Some people get very sick.” She warned yesterday: “It is just tragic to think that some children might die from measles.”

Dr McCauley said: “If you feel unwell, stay at home. This becomes more important now as we move indoors during the winter. We want to eliminate the spread of viruses. Covid isn’t the flu. It’s killing people still.” The HSE has advised that Mpox is spread from person to person through very close contact and that anyone who develops a rash that looks like mpox should contact their local STI clinic or GP.
