Health guru issues coffee warning to anyone who drinks it first thing in the morning

A diet expert has issued a warning to those who include coffee in their daily routines, urging them to be wary of the time they choose to ingest the caffeinated drink.

Doctor Mosley, who is well-known for being the creator of the Fast 800 and 5:2 diets, told readers that it is actually best to leave it a few hours after waking up before having your first coffee, Daily Record reports. In the piece, the doctor quoted researcher James Betts, a professor of metabolic physiology at the University of Bath, who suggested that the reason for this is due to poor sleep raising the levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.

He added that there are some other benefits too, such as drinking one to three cups of coffee per day helping your metabolism and aiding weight loss.
