A hearing to recover almost £25,000 from ex-MP Natalie McGarry was postponed today to await an appeal against her conviction.
She was found guilty of taking £19,974 while treasurer of Women for Independence.McGarry also embezzled a further £4,661 while treasure, secretary and convener of the Glasgow Regional Association of the SNP.A proceeds ofMcGarry's attendance was excused.
Her lawyer Pat Campbell said:"You will be aware of the intention of an appeal against sentence and conviction. "Against that background, I invite to continue this hearing for two months to allow the outcome of these proceedings."Prosecutor Darren Harty agreed with a joint motion to continue the hearing.
He said:"My instructions from the proceeds of crime unit is to continue this matter for four weeks but that's slightly optimistic to allow the appeal to be lodged if Miss McGarry will be continuing with that appeal."
