'Yeah I'm disappointed I'm not going to lie, but that's part of it. With the good swims you have the bad swims,' said Ní Ríain after her close defeat.

Róisín Ní Ríain missed out on a third medal of the Paris Paralympic Games in agonising fashion as she was pipped for third place in the final of the SB 13 100m breaststroke. With a silver and bronze medal already secured, Ní Ríain headed to La Defence Arena in search of a third medal but could only muster a fourth placed finish as she clocked a time of 1:19.

16. That time was only good enough for fourth as Colleen Young of America sneaked home in a time of 1:18.52 to win bronze. Britain’s Rebecca Redfern took gold in 1:16.02 ahead of American Olivia Chambers.READ MORE:Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal win Paralympic silver as they end partnership in style "Yeah I'm disappointed I'm not going to lie, but that's part of it. With the good swims you have the bad swims," Ní Ríain told RTE after the race. "I'll be able to look back at it and be happy with my performances here. Obviously I'm disappointed with that, but it's been a good week overall. "I'll have to have a look back. I don't think... I probably got a bit too excited. Definitely didn't hit some of the stuff that I needed to, but, you know it's all learning. "For sure, two medals is absolutely brilliant. Of course that's not what I'm thinking about right now, but yeah, I'll definitely be able to look back and be happy with that. "For visually impaired kids to be able to look up and see people like that, it's really nice for them. I definitely would've loved to have had that when I was younger, so it's great for them. "My family have been great, friends and family, loads of them came over, glad that they were able to come over and watch. It meant a lot."
