The Bord Gais Energy Theatre said that 'despite best efforts', they have been forced to cancel the first performance of the hit musical Mary Poppins
There's bad news for anyone who had tickets to the opening night of Mary Poppins at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre as the first performance of the hit musical has been cancelled at the last minute.
A spokesperson for the Dublin theatre said there has been repeated delays with parts of the set being shipped in from the UK due to the storm and that they have been forced to postpone tonight's performance "despite best efforts". In a statement, the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre said: "Due to the impact of Storm Darragh, there have been repeated delays with large parts of the Mary Poppins set being shipped from the UK to Dublin. The situation was further worsened by the subsequent closure of Holyhead, making it impossible to deliver the set on time."
"Bord Gáis Energy Theatre sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by this situation. Every effort was made to ensure the show would proceed as planned, and this decision was not made lightly. We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding during these exceptional circumstances."
