Charles Dooher , a man from Co Donegal , is battling for his life in Belfast 's Royal Victoria Hospital after a brutal attack at his Lifford home on Monday morning. Five masked men armed with steel bats assaulted Mr. Dooher and his father, Charles Snr, at their residence on Coneyburrow Road around 10:30 am. The attack left Mr. Dooher with horrific head injuries, while his father received treatment at Letterkenny University Hospital .
Charles Dooher's girlfriend, Charlotte Gallen, made a heartfelt plea for information to help apprehend the perpetrators. She shared her devastation, describing the stark contrast between their idyllic life in Australia a year ago and her current reality of sitting by his bedside in intensive care, praying for his recovery. Ms. Gallen highlighted her boyfriend's kindness and the peace he brought into her life, emphasizing that his strength would urge her to remain hopeful. She urged anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from Coneyburrow Road in Lifford between 10 am and 11 am to contact the Gardaí. She also requested any individuals with information to reach out to Letterkenny Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda Station, and encouraged the public to share their appeal in the hope of finding crucial leads. Adding to the public's concern, two men arrested in Derry by the PSNI in connection with the attack were released on bail on Friday morning.
