'How would you cope in this extreme heat when there is no water available?”
Some residents in Leyland were left without water in the extreme heat last weekend due to a burst water pipe in the Moss Lane area. United Utilities first reported a problem in Leyland late on Friday evening just before 10pm, which it said could mean some residents had no water or low water pressure, before confirming just before midnight that the problem was down to a burst in the Moss Lane area.
It said, at 12.38pm on its website on Sunday: “Just to let you know, our water tankers will remain in the area to help keep taps flowing until we have resolved the issue causing no water or poor pressure in the PR25 area. Please be assured we are doing all we can to get things back to normal. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this is causing, and thank you for your ongoing patience.”
“It was different per property depending on whether you were up or down from the leak. People on Facebook were saying it was off for two days but we only experienced it off for last night and it was back to low pressure this morning . But he was concerned about being forced to cope in hot weather with no water, adding: “How would you cope in this extreme heat when there is no water available?” His concerns were echoed by others in Leyland. Dave Champness commented on social media: “That pipe is the main supply to north Leyland.” Holly Jane commented on Saturday: “No supply here in Farington and no notice of an issue, otherwise I would have got some in.
A United Utilities spokesperson, said: “There was a burst on one of the water mains in the Moss Lane area of Leyland. We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers who may have noticed low pressure or no water at times over the weekend.
