Helen McEntee acknowledges it's tough to keep up with the moving sites, but vows to keep trying
Justice Minister Helen McEntee is cracking down on ‘escort’ websites that are fronting for sexual exploitation and human trafficking by shutting them down and chasing them.
However, Ms McEntee also acknowledged that it is very hard to keep up with the websites because often as soon as you close one down it reappears in another location, with the IP address more often than not in a foreign jurisdiction. READ MORE: Helen McEntee promises Government is exhausting 'every effort' to rescue Emily Hand from Hamas“What we have seen is that where certain websites have been closed down that then they have moved their base then to other jurisdictions, and even then when they have been closed down they move elsewhere, so the online presence is hugely challenging.
“What we know from over the last year or two is that a number of strategies, a number of mechanisms have been in place to allow women to make contactand to engage and that in itself filters down into other women who are working and who are being forced into this industry.“So the online challenges that we face, it’s really difficult.
