They added that if people are "asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving , follow that [isolation period] by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter.

This is why the CDC also updated its recommendations for how long you should quarantine after being exposed to someone with COVID-19. “For people who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose and not yet , CDC now recommends quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days,” per the guidelines.
