Lynda Jefferson-Baker was branded a 'hero' after the incident
The driver of a Stagecoach bus that set on fire in Liverpool city centre has spoken out for the first time.
She said: “I can’t take all the credit, the passengers were brilliant, stayed calm and evacuated the bus quickly and of course the emergency services who were there within a few minutes.” "Our driver safely evacuated all passengers from the vehicle and there were no reported injuries. Safety is our number one priority, and a full investigation into the cause of this incident is underway."One man, who works in a corner shop on the road, said he was working on the till when he noticed a fire had started on the back seats of the top deck of the bus.
"I could feel the heat from the flames standing at the side of the road. I didn't see any ambulances. The fire guys told me nobody was injured which is lucky. It could have been much worse."
