Highland Park High School went on lockdown, “due to a report of a student potentially in possession of a gun at school,” according to an announcement from the city of Highland Park.
According to the city’s announcement, there “are no reported shots fired” and there is a heavy police presence currently at the school.
A spokesperson from the Lake County sheriff’s office confirmed there are deputies on the scene assisting.“Students and school staff should remain in place to facilitate the work of law enforcement to secure the building,” the city’s statement continued. “The City will provide an update to
