Parts of Carnoustie were locked down last night after the discovery
Train passengers are still facing major disruptions this morning following a gas leak that has lead evacuations and road and rail closures. Police shut down Links Parade in Carnoustie, Angus, last night after Scottish Gas Networks reported damages to the network by a third party.
The ruptured gas main was discovered near the East Coast rail line. Network Rail said the line via Carnoustie will remain closed until it is safe to reopen, and a 50-metre exclusion zone is in place around the site. LNER are terminating trains from Kings Cross to Scotland at Edinburgh and Newcastle. Rail replacement buses have been put in place. ScotRail said it also has ticket acceptance in place with Stagecoach between Dundee and Arbroath.
