Firefighters worked through the night as the blaze gutted the building.

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 10pm and battled into the early hours to control the blaze.

Police confirmed that Clydemuir Primary was opened to give shelter to those displaced while the incident was brought under control. "Shortly after 9.45pm last night the fire was reported at Frank Downie House in Ottawa Crescent. A number of roads in the area remain closed and a small number of residents close to the fire have been evacuated as a precaution. The public should continue to avoid the area. There are no reports of any injuries.
