Police remain at the scene this evening
Homes have been evacuated after a suspected gas leak in Bolton. Emergency services raced to a property on Huxley Street in the Smithills area of the town shortly before 5:30pm this evenng in response to a 'concern for welfare' for a person.
A spokesperson said: "Greater Manchester Police, alongside colleagues from NWAS and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, attended a property on Huxley Road in Bolton at 5.21pm today following reports of a concern for welfare."As a precaution, neighbouring houses have been evacuated due to a possible gas leak." No information has been given regarding the person that sparked the concern for welfare call.
