Honor Magic V2 and Magic 6 Pro are two of my favourite smartphones of 2024, but I think Honor 200 and Honor 200 Pro are the handsets most Irish consumers should buy.

Here are the results of my tests with the smartphone over the course of three to four weeks’ daily use...

Honor 200 Pro performance Honor 200 Pro utilises the new Android SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3s which is not quite as powerful as the flagship 8 Gen 3 SoC. It comes with 12 GB of RAM. One most useful feature is Magic Portal which uses AI to guess your intent so you can skip a few steps to perform an action faster. You can drag photos or text from one app to another and the phone will suggest the apps it thinks you will want to use to speed up the process.

The camera system is highly rated by the lab testers at DXOMark for a phone at this price point. It comes 33rd in the global rankings, ahead of big-name heavy hitters such as Google Pixel 8a, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Google Pixel Fold and Apple iPhone 14. I was also pleased with the quality of the zoom lens, even if 2.5 optical zoom is only half the range of Pixel 8 Pro, S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max – but it’s worth remembering those three flagships can cost up to twice the price of Honor 200 Pro.

Even in days of heavy testing, taking a lot of photos and video, the battery lasted the full day from 8am to midnight.
