For 60 days, Cam Cameron will only have birds, seal and two Minke whales for company.

Perched in the middle of the North Atlantic, far away from other landforms, Rockall is a disputed island claimed by both Ireland and the United Kingdom.and takes three days to reach by sea.Cam Cameron has already spent 18 days on the rock and brought with him specialist accommodation.“It’s like a hard tent survival capsule which has been specially marinised for me by Landlord UK.”

Today the weather is “scorching” but the past week has been so foggy it scared away much of the birdlife.“When the fog came in most of them disappeared - I don’t know where they’ve gone but the place was full of birds.Other than speaking to journalists, Mr Cameron has a regular routine he carries out with military precision.

“Wake up, have breakfast, wash, clean teeth, write my diary, take some weather recordings and then I get on with my daily routine which normally includes filming,” he said. The only thing that really changes is the weather and Mr Cameron is careful not to leave his pod when the weather is bad; the wet bird poo makes the island slippy and simply “too dangerous” to roam about on.

Still, although he is 370km from another human settlement, Mr Cameron feels he is “alone but not lonely”.“Hopefully I won’t have to swim [back],” he said.
