The Hornets were victorious the last time this referee was in charge at Vicarage Road WatfordFC
Tobi Adeyemo memorably came off the bench to score his first senior goal when Gavin Ward was in charge of Watford's game with Blackpool in January.
The referee who took charge of Watford’s victory over Blackpool in January is due to return to Vicarage Road on Saturday when the Hornets will be aiming to beat another Lancashire club to boost their play-off prospects. Gavin Ward has been appointed as the man in the middle for the game against Preston North End, a fixture Slaven Bilic’s men will go into four points outside the top six following Luton Town’s 2-2 draw with Millwall last night.
Ward has been one of the busier referees this season, having taken charge of 30 games so far in which he has produced a total of 105 yellow cards and two reds. He is due to have Robert Merchant and Robert Hyde on the touchlines, with Alan Young on fourth official duties.
