Irish police have arrested three men suspected of sexually abusing children in their family home for years. The investigation, described as a 'house of horrors' case, also revealed evidence of neglect, beatings, and the degrading treatment of a vulnerable adult. The suspects, aged between 30 and 50, were arrested in Leinster and are being questioned on charges ranging from rape and sexual abuse to neglect and covering up crimes.

The three men, aged between 30 and their 50s, were arrested in a Leinster town earlier today as part of a long-running Garda investigation. Sources tell us officers fear several children had been sexually abused for years at the home - as well as being beaten up and neglected. The three suspects were being questioned tonight on offences ranging from rape and sexual abuse to neglect – and covering up the crimes.Sources say the investigation has been long running and officers will now prepare a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions – who will decide if anyone is to be charged. We have learned that gardai searching a property as part of their probe were horrified by what they saw inside. “It was nothing short of squalor,” a source said. It’s understood the house was littered with dirty nappies and other soiled sanitary items. Toilets were blocked and sinks were overflowing. There were also mattresses on the floor that had clear signs of human waste on them.We have also established that as well as children allegedly being abused in the house, gardai suspect a vulnerable adult in the same property was also subjected to degrading treatment. Gardai confirmed the arrests in the investigation in a statement this evening. A spokeswoman told us officers carried out a search operation this morning. She added: “The search has been completed at this time. Three males have been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation. “The three males are being detained under section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda Stations in Co. Meath.
