Thousands of BTec students will receive their results this week, on the same day GCSE pupils get their grades

However, Pearson advises that BTec Tech Awards, which cover Level 1 and 2, are equivalent to GCSE grades A to E under the traditional grading system, while Level 2 BTec Firsts are comparable to grades A* to C.Distinction* =A* at GCSE, which adds a complicating factor to comparing BTec grades.

However, the new Level 2 equivalents would roughly be as follows:Pass =4 or 5 at GCSEstudents are given points for each unit they completeStudents will have been taking a number units throughout the course. Once they have finished all their units, all the points are added together and the student is awarded a final grade.
