“There is not a lot of development around nonbinary identities under the law,” said Milo Ingelhart, a staff attorney with the. “Transgender rights law is a relatively new field in the history of our country.” He added that while the drafters of such bills were not necessarily thinking of trans people at the time of their writing, updating this legislation to include nonbinary people aligns with the original intent of addressing gender discrimination.
