Nutritionist Orla Walsh shares tips on lowering calories on Christmas day without compromising on taste and enjoyment.
Christmas is a time for enjoying our food and drink, embracing precious quality time with loved ones and really taking a moment to indulge in food, company and relaxation. However for anyone on a weight loss journey or who needs to be away of calories on the day for health reasons, there are a few savvy trades you can make that will still allow you to savour the spirit of Christmas without going off track.
From swaps in the cooking process to watching your alcohol consumption, nutritionist Orla Walsh has shared her tips on lowering calories on the day without compromising on taste and enjoyment. She told RSVP Live: "Christmas dinner is a lean meal. However, extra fat can sneak in rather easily upping the calorie content of the meal quite quickly. Using spray oil can help as it provides 1 calorie per spray while regular oil provides 110 kcal per tbsp
