It’s hard to imagine Aaron Rodgers wanting to share a Hall of Fame class with the greatest player ever in 2028. So how does Tom Brady's retirement affect Rodgers’ future? AR12 might be leaning just a little closer to returning after TB12's announcement.
, Buccaneers and Dolphins . Like the Packers did in sending Brett Favre to the Jets over the Buccaneers in 2008, common sense indicates the organization wouldn’t trade Rodgers within the conference. That rules out the Commanders and Bucs, leaving the Raiders, Titans, Jets and Dolphins.
Miami is likely out with no first-round pick to offer this year, so now we’re down to three. Rodgers told McAfee that he doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, but it’s implied that the Packers won’t trade Rodgers to a team he doesn’t want to play for. We don’t know for certain the list of teams he’d willingly go to, but that list probably wouldn’t include the Titans given how shallow they are at wide receiver.
That leaves the Raiders and the Jets. Brady probably wasn’t going to the Jets. He couldn’t face his longtime former team and head coach twice a year, could he? The leader in the clubhouse for Brady seemed to be the Raiders, but then the 45-year-old retired. That might incentivize the Raiders to be more aggressive in trading for Rodgers, which in turn might entice the Jets to up their potential offer.
