A HR manager should be compensated for the 'inexcusable' manner of her dismissal, where she said she was 'marched out of the office' as her colleagues laughed, the Workplace Relations Commission has ruled.

A HR manager should be compensated for the"inexcusable" manner of her dismissal, where she said she was"marched out of the office" as her colleagues laughed, the Workplace Relations Commission has ruled.

The complainant said the company's managing director told her to clear out her desk and escorted her out of the office – waiting with the complainant until her partner came to collect her. The tribunal heard that the manager’s sacking, during probation, came after she sought an apology for a series of"disrespectful" emails from a male colleague who had copied other staff in on the communications.

"Whatever room for doubt up there may be about the reason for her termination the manner in which it was carried out was inexcusable," he wrote, adding that there was no explanation given by the employer for its actions.
