Gardai were called and the man was removed from the hospital

The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning in the Accident and Emergency treatment ward of Letterkenny University Hospital.The alleged attacker was accompanying another person for treatment at the hospital when the incident happened.

It is understood the alleged attacker was using his phone to video the hospital when security staff spoke to him.Eye-witnesses said the security guard received a number of injuries and his shirt was also ripped.A Garda spokesperson confirmed their enquiries are ongoing into the incident. "Gardaí received a report of an assault at a premises at Kilmacrennan Road, Letterkenny, at around 2.30am on Thursday, 16th January 2025. Enquiries are ongoing," said the spokesperson.
