Too many ventilators were ordered and others were not fit for purpose
HSE chiefs have been slammed for wasting taxpayers’ money by ordering ten times more ventilators than were clinically needed during the Covid pandemic.

“The C&AG also reports that advance payments totalling €81million were made to new suppliers to secure orders for 2,198 ventilators. “The HSE is pursuing refunds of €22.3million for orders that were cancelled or where the ventilators received were deemed not fit for purpose.
