Executive wants to attract overseas medics with taglines like: ‘You found yourself in North Sydney, now find your roots in South Dublin’

The government is planning to target doctors in Australia, New Zealand and the US as part of a new recruitment campaign with the goal of attracting more than 400 new staff for Ireland’s stretched healthcare service in 2023.

As part of the new campaign, launched by the HSE this morning, medics overseas will be targeted with advertising taglines like: “You found yourself in North Sydney, now find your roots in South Dublin.’’ It comes as the government attempts to make a success of the new Sláintecare public only contract, after the Business Post reported last week that just 61 existing consultants have switched over to the deal since its introduction in March.
