The news of his possible infection was delivered last week in a formal letter from the HSE, seen by the Irish Mirror

It comes just weeks after the Irish Mirror warned the Government is set to axe the national TB vaccination scheme.

The patient has been told to watch out for symptoms in the future as TB can present at any time following exposure.“I was waiting more than 12 hours for blood tests and I was told it was better if I stayed in that night. To think I might have TB is absolutely upsetting.”It says the risk of having the disease is low but warns “the germ can remain ‘silent’ for many years”.
